Original founders and owners of F1RST Surf Shop Mark Gamez and Christian De La Iglesia hosted the photoshoot featuring some of the truest born and bred South Beach locals including Dave Begley, Bobby Whelan, Lance-O 'Brien, Annie Tworoger, Ronnie Keindle to mention and few. The article digs all the way back to orginal Rollo's, Miami Snowballs and original surf shop pioneer Dudley Whitman

The article chronicles the Miami Surf Archive Project, alonmg with properly memorializing the history of surfing culture within South Beach.

Then and Now
These days, South Pointe is all glitz, money and towering condos. At 36, Christian De La Iglesia, co-owner of First Surf Shop with Mark Gamez, is a relative young blood who is pioneering the neighborhood for surfers all over again. “When I was a young grom [surfspeak for ‘kid’],” he says, “South Beach was a way cooler scene, but we still get all kinds of customers. Surf shops have a certain romance.”
